The Cyprus National Guard has officially added locally developed H-10 Poseidon drones to its arsenal, the Ministry of Defense announced during the celebration of Artillery Day and the Day of St. Barbara, the patron saint of artillerymen, at the Stylianos Kalpourdzis base in Delikopos.
Unmanned systems created by Swarmly Aero from Limassol are already included in the armament of artillery units and are used for surveillance, reconnaissance and pinpointing targets. Drones are capable of identifying the enemy and transmitting their exact coordinates, providing highly accurate fire adjustments.
High flight stability and long battery life make the Poseidon H-10 a suitable solution for border patrol, critical infrastructure monitoring, early warning and tactical support for troops. Secure communication channels ensure that data is transferred without the risk of interception or interference.
In response to the increasing use of unmanned systems, the National Guard has announced the hiring of five contract sergeant operators specializing in external control of drones. However, the recruitment does not apply to the new Poseidon H-10 systems, but to earlier models delivered in 2019.
The representative of the Ministry of Defense, Christos Pieris, clarified that unit No. 470, responsible for the operation of drones, needs 5-6 more people to ensure the operation of the equipment in an expanded mode. The manufacturer has already sent specialists to Cyprus who will train future operators. Ожидается, что новая волна найма укрепит возможности подразделения.
