In Cyprus, the dog bit a little girl

In the evening of the weekend in the picturesque village of Finni, near Limassol, an emergency occurred. On the territory of waterfalls, the dog attacked a little girl at the age of two years and eight months.

The child was injured in the legs and was urgently delivered to the Limassol hospital, and then transferred to Nikosia, where the doctors performed the operation. Despite the seriousness of the situation, now the child’s life does not threaten anything, doctors evaluate her condition as stable.

The dog who attacked the girl was seized by the veterinary service for verification in order to establish her behavior and health. The owner of the animal has already been detained by the police and, according to media reports, she may threaten criminal liability for violation of the rules for keeping dogs and causing harm.

Such incidents from time to time occur in Cyprus and cause serious discussions in society about the need for more strict control of pets. The authorities resemble dog owners of the importance of using leashes and muzzles in public places, especially where families with children walk.

In the village of Finnish, known for its waterfalls and tourist paths, the incident caused a great resonance: local residents and tourists are shocked by what had happened. Many note that such situations can negatively affect the image of the region as a safe place to relax.
