On January 9, the Pan-Cypriot Peace Council will organize two protests on the occasion of the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Cyprus.
According to the organizers, the protests are directed against Israel's policies towards Palestine and Lebanon.
According to council representatives, Duke's visit is related to the Cypriot-Egyptian intergovernmental and trilateral meeting of Cyprus-Greece-Egypt, which is taking place in Cairo, as well as events in Syria.
The first action will begin at 16:00 at the Larnaca airport roundabout through which the President of Israel is supposed to pass. The second will take place at the entrance to the Presidential Palace in Nicosia at 16:30.
“We call on everyone to join the protests and show that Cypriots are against the war and the policy of destruction of the Palestinian people. The visit of the President of Israel is a challenge for all those who fight for peace, justice and an end to the genocide of the Palestinians,” the Pan-Cypriot Peace Council said in a statement.
In connection with the visit of the President of Israel, the police announced temporary road closures to ensure security.
From 16:00 to 21:00 on Thursday, short-term closures are expected on the Larnaca-Nicosia highway.
Drivers are advised to plan their routes in advance to avoid delays.
