Only five schools in Nicosia operate the air conditioners that have been installed, despite the fact that the school tax office has taken all necessary steps to proceed with the procedures as they wait for the EAC to proceed with the necessary checks and connections. It is noted that the issue is expected to be put on a table at a meeting of the Minister of Education with the school tax offices around the end of the month.

The issue of air conditioners had been a lot of concern in the past, as both the House and the teachers and students had expressed concerns that during the summer months, classrooms are unbearable because of the high temperatures observed. Indeed, in the summer, the Ministry of Education had decided like some days, which there was a warning from the meteorological, schools were interrupting lessons earlier.

Were placed air conditioners in schools but still do not work

Following a strong public dialogue, the decision was made to install air conditioners in schools, on the basis of the evaluation of necessity, made by the Ministry of Education. In the first phase of the design, the five school tax offices chose from ten schools for the establishment (fifty schools across the Cyprus). And while the school tax offices have carried out all the procedures and are even able to move on to the tender for the following schools, in Nicosia, there is an oxymoron.

"Of the ten schools, air conditioners operate in five. We have proceeded with all the procedures, but we are still waiting for the Cyprus Electricity Authority to inspect the rest. Specifically, one has evaluated and told us that the automatic must change and in other schools it has not yet been done, "he told

It is noted that three other schools in Nicosia have been placed on a private initiative, but they are not even operating in them, as they have not yet been inspected by the EAC. This is essentially the design of the competent steps back, as the next installations must go immediately.

"We worked for it all summer. We were told by the EAC that in October they would start the checks and by December they would be completed. We are mid -February and they have not yet advanced. We have already submitted complaints to the EAC. The only mitigating I give to the EAC is that we are in winter and climate conditions do not require air conditioner. "

The issue of implementing the decision to install air conditioners is expected to be brought before the Ministry of Education on February 27, when a meeting with the Political Head will take place.

It is noted that, in addition to air conditioners, schools have problems for photovoltaics as well, as despite being placed in several units, the necessary union has not yet become the necessary union. What makes it clear is that their union and function concerns the one who has installed them.
