Open to indirect talks with the United States says it is Iran, following the ultimatum allegedly given by Donald Trump to Tehran for a new nuclear deal.
"The road is open to indirect negotiations," Foreign Minister Abbas Arakki said, rejecting the prospect of immediate talks with Washington "until there is a change in the other side's approach to the Islamic Republic."
Last week, Axios, citing an American official and two other informed sources, spoke of a two -month deadline that Trump gave to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Hameni, to reach a new nuclear agreement.
It is not clear whether the countdown of two months began when the letter was delivered to Hameni or will start with the start of negotiations on the matter.
Iran near the acquisition of a nuclear weapon
The Iranian nuclear program has made significant progress over the last four years, bringing the country closer than ever to the construction of a nuclear weapon.
"We can't let them get a nuclear weapon. Something will happen very soon. I would prefer a peace agreement than the other option, but the other option would solve the problem, "the US president said, a day after the letter was revealed a few days ago by Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkov, to the UN President, to the United Arabian President.
