Eager to browse cacti and succulents that thrive in this Mediterranean weather? The annual Exhibition of Cacti and Other Succulents returns for the 16th time for a day of workshops, sales and plant worship.
Held once again at Acropolis Park in Nicosia by the Cyprus Association of Cacti and Other Succulents, the exhibition on May 11 will be an opportunity to admire rare collectible cacti and other succulents, ideal for collections or for cultivation in Cypriot gardens.
Exhibited at the park’s Caves venue will be a large plants and pots market featuring home-grown cacti and succulent varieties to buy from flower shops as well as rare plant species imported from abroad and handmade pots.
As part of the exhibition, a plant competition will take place featuring around 500 plants, offering visitors a spectacular experience. The evaluation will be conducted by the distinguished judge Dr Andreas Larras, a member of the Hellenic Society of Cacti and Other Succulents, an experienced collector, and an internationally recognised researcher of Mexican cacti.
Several workshops will engage participants with the world of succulents. At 11am the children’s workshop ‘How to plant and propagate succulents’ will take place while at 3.30pm a more hands-on session will have participants making potted arrangements with succulents.
As always, the exhibition will distribute another edition of the leaflet The Smart Garden (in Greek) which includes useful information on how to incorporate succulents into Cypriot gardens, published by the Association in collaboration with the Office of the Environment Commissioner.
