In front of the Commerce and Industry Committee, the plan of the "photovoltaic for all" government was found and the ways of simplify and improve it. At the heart of the debate was the issue that seems to arise, as many citizens who install photovoltaic systems face problems. As mentioned before the Commission, it is observed that the administrator is observing on holidays in households, as well as ups and downs in accounts.
As it was said before the Commerce Committee, before cutting off the household photovoltaics, a cut of photovoltaic parks is preceded. However, cuts also affect households. According to experts found before the Parliamentary Committee on Trade, this is due to the low demand, resulting in the Network Service interrupting the production by RES.
Taking the floor, the Chairman of the Commerce Committee, Kyriakos Hatzigiannis, expressed his dissatisfaction with the RAEK, noting that one of its roles is to ensure citizens' investments. He stressed that the fact that citizens who invested in photovoltaics are suddenly subject to cuts is a deterrent to the future. She also asked to send her positions on cuts in writing from RAEK.
In addition, members of the Commission have asked the RAEK to send its plans for what is to come and what actions are planned. At the same time, there was a reference to the long -term plan of the EAC, with MPs, however, calling for immediate action within the next few months.
The issue of stopping systems in households re -opened the debate on energy storage. Members said that no real progress had been made, and as heard before the House, in 2024 167,000 megawatts were lost.
In this regard, Mr Hatzigiannis said that an energy storage system should be implemented for all and called for all citizens to be given the right to store energy, noting that this right should be secured.
For his part, MP Costas Costas pointed out that thousands of megawatts have been lost for years. He stressed that from October to April, when demand is lower, production is higher and this is not exploited.
In addition, the issue of the transfer network was raised, which cannot support the load. As stated in the Parliamentary Committee, the network needs expansion and upgrading, which has been discussed for years without any substantial interventions.
At the same time, MPs said that Cyprus was filled with large photovoltaic parks, noting that "anyone who wanted and had a medium priority for a park".
In addition, MPs said they have received complaints from citizens who installed photovoltaic systems to reduce the cost of electricity. However, it is observed for a consumer to pay 80 euros a month and the following month much more, as when his system produces energy, this is cut off and thus cannot benefit.
However, the issue of energy storage is not the first time it has been before the Commerce Committee. In the context of the debate on Ripple Control, MPs pointed out that nothing has changed since then and the problems remain the same.
