King Frederik X of Denmark emphasized the important role of Cyprus as a pillar of peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
On Wednesday 13 November, King Frederik X of Denmark received the credentials of the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Denmark, Panagiotis Kyriacou, at an official ceremony held at Amalienborg Palace on 6 November.
In the private audience that followed, Ambassador Kyriacou conveyed to the King the greetings of President Nicos Christodoulides, noting the high level of bilateral relations between Cyprus and Denmark and expressing his desire to strengthen ties between the countries.
The ambassador also briefed King Frederick on the latest developments on the Cyprus problem and Christodoulides' efforts to resume negotiations. He expressed gratitude for the contribution of Danish soldiers to the UN peacekeeping mission in Cyprus (UNFICYP) and mentioned the stabilizing role of Cyprus in the region, highlighting the Amalthea humanitarian project for Gaza.
According to the ministry statement, King Frederick returned the greetings to Christodoulides and emphasized the positive role of Cyprus as a pillar of peace in the region. He also expressed satisfaction with the current relations between Denmark and Cyprus and wished for their further strengthening.
