The Cyprus customs service, together with the police, conducted a large -scale operation to identify and seize counterfeit products: in eight stores belonging to two companies, 1325 fake toys, key fob and accessories “Labubu” were discovered, violating the registered intellectual property rights.
The operation covered all areas of the island and became part of the consistent strategy of the Cypriot authorities to combat illegal trade in counterfeit products, especially in the segment of children's goods.
In this regard, the customs department calls for consumers to show special caution when buying toys, recalling that:
Counterfeit products often do not comply with quality and safety standards; Fakes can pose a threat to the health and life of children; Products violate not only the law, but also the rights of owners of the original brand.
Fake "Labubu" is much cheaper than the original.
The Cyprus Customs Service continues to make efforts to protect consumers and legal owners of the brands, carrying out reinforced checks on the border, as well as sudden raids at retail outlets throughout the island.
Operations of this kind are becoming more and more relevant against the background of the growth of the popularity of brands focused on the children's audience. “Labubu” is one of the most famous and recognizable characters among toys and collection accessories, and its mass falsification causes serious concern among the authorities.
Buyers are recommended to purchase goods only in trusted stores and require authenticity certificates, especially when buying products of popular brands.
