Joseph Kesidis won the historic, first gold medal for Cyprus in a European Cup, even breaking his own Cypriot record in the pounding under 23.

According to KOEA, in the first race of the 24th European Cup, at the National Athletics - GSP - GSP in Nicosia, the pounding of men under the age of 23, Panikos Charalambous's athlete threw in his 4th shot at 72.96m, which was enough for the gold medal.

Kesidis improved his record from his second shot at 72.50m, showing stability, as he threw at 72.78m in his 6th attempt. Recall that the individual performance of the Cypriot champion was 72.23m. and the Cyprus record under 23 years of age 71.32m.

Now, with its new great success, Golden World Champion K20 last year in Lima can dream of a stunning year in which the K23 European Championship is present and why not the Men's / Women's World Championships.

In a row, Kesidis' shots were: 69.60m, 72.50m, invalid, 72.96m, invalid, 72.78m.

The 2nd place was held by Hungarian Miklos Ceko with 71.54m. and the 3rd Helladitis Ioannis Korakidis with 71.08m.

KOEAS congratulates Joseph Joseph Kesidis for his new great success and his coach Panikos Charalambous.
