Moscow welcomed Washington's move to review its national security strategy and stop calling Russia an "immediate threat," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
He said that this is a positive step, adding - however - that Moscow will carefully examine the 29-page document, which sets out the new security strategy of the United States.
Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, it is noted in the document that Washington will seek a quick resolution of the conflict and will aim to restore strategic stability with Moscow. It is noted at the same time that Russia's actions in Ukraine remain a central security concern.
The US security strategy was published amid a deadlocked US peace initiative aimed at ending the four-year war in Ukraine.
