The UK government is taking its responsibility as a guarantor force very seriously and is fully committed to the process of resolving the Cyprus problem under the leadership of the United Nations, among other things, Undersecretary of State for European Foreign Affairs Steven Dautie.
In a reply letter on behalf of British Prime Minister Kir Starmer to the British Council, he points out that during his visit to Cyprus he saw the impact of the island's division.
He also notes that he was happy that the United Kingdom represented at the informal expanded Geneva meeting in mid -March, in which he reiterated the United Kingdom's commitment to the model of bi -communal, bi -zonal federation with political equality. Mr. Dautti welcomes the agreement of the leaders of the two sides, to continue working for confidence -building measures, but also for the appointment of a personal envoy of the UN Secretary -General and their commitment to meet again in July.
