Limassol's main roads will be closed due to protests by football fans

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, a protest action will be held among fans of the Sports Association in Limassol.

In this regard, according to the police, traffic in the city center will be difficult, and central roads will be closed from 18.30. In particular, it is expected that traffic will be difficult on the avenues of Despina and Nikos Pattihis, Archbishop Leontios I, Archbishop Makarios III, as well as on the streets of Dikarchou, Navarinou, Victoros Ugos, Mykinon and others.

As part of the protest, at around 6:45 p.m., participants in the event, Sports Association fans, plan to gather in the area west of Despina and Nikos Pattihis avenues, from where they will then walk towards the Limassol Police Headquarters, where they will hold a rally and peaceful protest. Participants will then return on foot along the same route to their original gathering place, where the protest will end.

In order to safely conduct the event and the safety of citizens and participants of tomorrow’s event, from 18:30 until the end of the event the following will be closed to vehicles:

Despina and Nikos Pattihis Avenue in both directions. Archbishop Leontiou I Avenue, in both directions. 16 June Street in both directions.

Police officers will be in the area to assist and direct traffic on alternative routes. At the end of the event, roads will be opened to traffic gradually until traffic is fully restored. Drivers of passing vehicles, as well as all citizens who will move in the area, are asked to follow the instructions of the police officers on duty.
