The private criminal prosecution of Thanasis Nikolaou's family against five suspects was postponed until January 22.
The District Court of Limassol accepted the request of the defense lawyers of the five, who asked for a postponement until they were given the witness material of the case.
According to the RIK correspondent, the lawyers stated that they will file preliminary objections in relation to the case.
One, as they said, will concern the appointment of Savvas Matsa as the lawyer of the Nikolaou family, since he was also the criminal investigator of the case.
They even claim that the court was misled.
The indictment against the five – the medical examiner Panikos Stavrianos and four former police officers – covers 39 charges related to conspiracy to obstruct the course of justice, neglect of official duty, issuance of a false certificate by a public official, perjury, provision of false information, destruction of evidence and interference in judicial proceedings.
