President Christodoulidis described Pompeo as a "friend of Cyprus".

The President of the Republic met with the former Secretary of State of the United States of America, Mike Pompeo, as part of the Economist's annual conference, which the former American Minister addressed yesterday.

Addressing the conference earlier, President Christodoulidis referred to Mike Pompeo's contribution to strengthening Cypriot-American relations and described him as a friend of Cyprus.

He noted that during their joint term as Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the declaration of intent was signed between the two countries, which formed the foundation upon which the current close and strategic relationship between Cyprus and the United States was built in all fields.
