The Cyprus government sharply criticized the deputy of the European Parliament and blogger Fidias Panayota for his interview with the leader of the Quipriot Turks Ersin Tatar, which, according to media reports, was recorded in the administration building in the northern part of the island occupied by Turkey.
“It is regrettable that a member of the European Parliament, elected by Cyprus people, is involved in actions that are used by the occupation regime to promote its unacceptable position,” said the representative of the government Konstantinos Letoybiotis. He also noted that the alarm causes not only the fact of the interview, but also the place of its holding.
Political parties also made condemnation against the panayot. In particular, the Democratic Party (wildly) called him "a pawn and an instrument of Turkish diplomacy and Turkish media."
Although the interview itself has not yet been published, the information about it was caused by a wide public outcry after the Turko-Kipr Blogger “Urban Cypriot” posted a meeting personnel to the network. Soon was a wave of criticism in Cyprus media and social networks.
At the moment, Panayota has not commented on the situation publicly.
