On Tuesday evening, May 6, a fire broke out in the Limassol port area.
The chief fire inspector Nikos Logginos spoke on the state radio, where he spoke about the details of the incident. According to him, the fire mainly affected dry grass on the field. One tree and two vehicles were injured.
He emphasized that explosions were heard in this area, which caused a large number of pyrotechnic products scattered at a distance of about 30 meters. According to him, the fireworks, apparently, were used by a group of young people whose personalities are unknown, and this fact is investigated by the police.
The sound of the rocket launchers was so loud that it was originally accepted by the explosion, which caused concern among the inhabitants, including because of the proximity to the port. A fire engine immediately arrived at the scene and put out a fire, not allowing him to spread or cause other damage.
The police cordoned off the territory and conducts an investigation to identify the guilty and prevent such incidents in the future. The main fireman called on the public to remain calm, assuring that the incident has been exhausted and there was no reason for concern.
