The fire that broke out in the early hours of Sunday in a truck in Astromeritis is allegedly caused by arson.
According to an official of the Police Press Office, at 4.30 in the morning the information about the fire was received and members of the Police and Fire Department rushed to the scene. However, the fire in the truck had already been extinguished by its 53-year-old owner. The truck was parked in an open lot behind the owner's residence and sustained extensive damage.
As established by the Police's first examinations, the fire was set on the vehicle maliciously, while there was a double cab parked next to it surrounded by liquid, but it had not been set on fire.
The scene was cordoned off by the Police and in the morning the Police examinations were to continue.
