In the arena "Spiros Kipriana" in Limassol, the historical match of the Eurobasket 2025 was held between the national teams of Cyprus and Greece.
For the first time in history, two national teams went to the site for one anthem, which was performed by the live artist Stavros Konstantin.
About 6,000 spectators who filled the stands stood up, singing to athletes. The atmosphere was filled with emotions and pride, and the joint performance of the anthem became a symbol of the brotherhood and deep historical ties of the two countries. The game was attended by the speaker of the Cyprus parliament Annit Dimitriu.
The match acquired special historical significance: this is the first official meeting between Cyprus and Greece as part of the Eurobaste. A similar case of a joint anthem at the final stage of the tournament occurred only once - in 1939, in the match of Finland and Estonia.
The game itself turned out to be dynamic and tense. The Cyprus team fought to the end, but lost to the Greece team with a score of 69:96.
But the Eurobasket is not only a sport, but also a bright show. During the break, the audience saw the Greek dance of Sirtaki, special guns launched T -shirts into the hall, and for the first time there was a media stalk for the entertainment of fans. The “Kiss of Kisses” caused a storm of emotions, when the couples in love in the stands fell into the lens and had to kiss the applause of the hall.
