Thirty years later, a Turkish port for Cypriot ships opens according to the front page in the newspaper "Ta Nea".

As stated in the report, Turkey appears ready to make a spectacular move to Nicosia hoping to lift the Cypriot and European objections to its accession dialogue.

The newspaper reports in the opening of a Turkish port for the approximately 1100 ships under the Cypriot flag.

A supreme government source in Nicosia reveals both the backdrop of the case and the return that Cyprus intends to give.

According to the report, Nicosia could consent to concessions to one of the Turkey's burning issues, that of the entry visas for Turkish nationals in the European Union, which will only concern businessmen.

This source in Nicosia, although it made it clear that Cyprus has not yet received any information from Ankara on the issue, through Brussels or Athens, or otherwise, stressed to the newspaper that this idea was a proposal by President Christodoulides himself.

In 1987, Ankara banned the mooring of ships under Cypriot flag in Turkish ports as well as the landing of Cypriot aircraft at the country's airports and their entry into the Turkish airspace.
