On stage in Laranca on September 7, Ed Sheeran was forced to adjust his performance after injuring one of his fingers during a concert in front of an audience of 20,000 people.
The incident occurred during his penultimate show of his Mathematics world tour, which took place at the Land of Tomorrow venue in Larnaca. During the performance of the hit “I Will Always Love You for What It’s Worth,” viewers noticed how the musician began to bleed from his finger.
Despite the injury, Sheeran finished the song with professionalism and, addressing the crowd, said with a smile: "I cut my finger, so I'll do first aid for myself while I perform the next song." He also introduced his assistant "Mickey" to help him on stage and performed the next track, "Thinking Out Loud", asking the audience to sing along.
After first aid was administered, Sheeran explained that he would have to play the rest of the concert with three fingers instead of four. With a sense of humor, he added: “If something goes wrong, it will be a good memory, won't it?”, drawing applause from the audience.
Despite the injury, the show continued without significant hitches, and fans were delighted with the artist's dedication and professionalism. The concert became the largest musical event ever held in Cyprus.
Sheeran has confirmed that despite the injury, he will perform at the final show of his Mathematics tour in Larnaca on September 8, 2024.
Ed Sheeran previously shared that this was his first concert in Cyprus, but he has fond memories of family holidays on the island as a child. In addition, fans were expecting a "special guest" to appear on stage, but this did not happen at the first concert, which increases expectations for the second performance today.
