A moderate magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck near Paphos, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported shortly after 3am on Wednesday morning.
The National Observatory of Athens (NOA), issued a second report listing it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake.
The earthquake occurred at 12.29am at a moderately shallow depth of 59km beneath the epicenter in southwest Paphos initial reports said.
The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours as seismologists review data and refine their calculations and as other agencies issue reports.
