No exploitable gas deposits were identified in the seas-2, 3 and 9 EEZ of the Republic of Cyprus.
Energy Minister George Papanastasiou told the CPC that the licenses in pieces 2, 3 and 9 ended and were not renewed, as investigations did not show exploitable deposits.
As the Cyprus News Agency points out, this development marks the departure of the Korean state company Kogas from the Cyprus EEZ, as it owned 20% of the rights in these pieces.
After the end of the licenses, the Italian company ENI, which has a leading role in the joint venture, now maintains rights in the sea 6, 7, 8 and 11, in collaboration with the French Total.
