A driver fell with his IX in a crowd attending a street festival of the Philippine community yesterday, Saturday, in Vancouver, western Canada, causing the death and injury of many people.
The 30 -year -old driver is a "individual suspect" known to the police and arrested on the spot by attendees, a Vancouver police spokesman said, without further clarifying about the arrested person's potential motives.

'This is not a terrorist act'
Vancouver police reported in a post that then made X that "at the moment, we are sure that this incident was not a terrorist act." "We do not know who to initiate (...) is shocking," said Jen Idaba-Kastaneto, head of the festival, on the local Vancouver Is Awesome news website, noting that he saw "corpses everywhere". Photos released by the CBC network show first aid groups at the site of the incident.
"I am shocked and I am deeply saddened by the terrible event at today's event for Lapo Lapo Day," said Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim in a post on X.

"Our thinking is with all those who have also been affected by the Philippine community of Vancouver at this extremely difficult time," he added.
"We are all mourning with you," Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who was planned to go to the province of British Colombia today for his latest election rallies, said in a post.
