The airbag replacement rate will increase dramatically as soon as the new spare parts stock arrive in Cyprus, Transport Minister Alexis Vafadis said.
Speaking on the morning itinerary, Mr. Vafadis said that the issue of airbag supplies had entered a series and expressed the belief that the necessary number of spare parts would be found.
Indicatively, he said that Honda Cyprus has identified a number of airbags and is a matter of time to reach Cyprus.
He also said that very soon, Toyota Cyprus will receive another 9,000 airbags.
According to Mr. Vafeadis, the issue for companies is about finding human resources and building facilities.
Referring to the new incident of an eruption of airbag in a vehicle in Limassol, the Minister of Transport said that the officer of the Department of Road Transport evaluated the incident said there was evidence that the accident occurred 3 months ago.
He also noted that today the incident would be evaluated to a clear picture of what has happened.
There is no legislation that allows the Ministry of Transport to issue a decree on companies' charges in relation to vehicles, said Minister Alexis Vafadis.
In statements after the Council of Ministers he emphasized that for this reason no decree would be issued and urged the distributors to avoid charges.
