A serious accident on the highway in Limassol on the night of September 2 caused a huge traffic jam. The road towards Nicosia is closed from Pyrgos to Moni.
As of 09:00, the traffic jam on the highway towards Nicosia starts from the Germasogeia roundabout and continues to the Parekklisha and Pyrgos exit. In the opposite direction, traffic stops on the highway in the area of the Germassogyi roundabout.
Serious traffic congestion also occurred on the coastal road, from the turn towards Pyrgos to the La Isla restaurant (towards the city centre). A traffic jam was recorded on the road from the highway to Parekklisha and at the exit to Agios Tychonas.
At 00:45 on September 2, a garbage truck overturned in the Moni area. The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
