On the morning of Tuesday, February 11, more than 215 Cyprus schools received electronic messages with the threats of the explosion.
According to the police, during the searches, no explosive devices were found in any of the educational institutions, but the audit continues.
According to law enforcement officers, letters were sent from a one -time email address registered from a Russian provider. However, as the police representative Kiriaki Lambrianid emphasized, this does not mean that the sender is in Russia. An international investigation is being conducted with the involvement of Interpol and the Europol, since educational institutions received similar threats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in Hungary.
In the area of Paphos, more than 45 schools received threats, including the special school of theoskal. Pupils and staff were evacuated, and the police conducted a thorough inspection of the premises. As a result of explosive devices, no explosive devices were found.
The text of the threat was written in Greek and contained extremist statements, including threats to Europe. According to the police, the content of the letter largely coincides with the threats entering Cyprus schools in May last year, which were subsequently recognized as Fake.
In connection with the incident, a crisis center was created in Cyprus, law enforcement officers are working in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education. At the moment, the threat level is estimated as low, but precautions continue to be observed.
