The European Seismological Center reported two earthquakes that occurred today, September 20, in Cyprus.
Tremors with a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale were recorded at 8.58 am, and tremors with a magnitude of 3, which occurred at 12:53, were felt throughout the island. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 17-20 kilometers southeast of Limassol, at a depth of 17.5 kilometers underground.
Residents of Limassol, Nicosia and Larnaca reported feeling hesitation.
Experts note that earthquakes of this magnitude are not uncommon in the region, and reminded citizens of the need to take precautions during seismic activity.
Experts also stressed that after tremors of this level, it is unlikely that devastating consequences will occur, but they urged residents to remain calm and stay informed about further official messages from the authorities.
