Lambros Constantaras was one of the most important Greek actors in theater and cinema. He may have excelled in the demanding kind of comedy, but also the dramatic roles, which he performed in the theater were praised by criticism.
Athleon, with roots from Constantinople, was born on March 13, 1913, in Kolonaki, 13 Ploutarchou Street, as he characteristically emphasized, pointing to his relationship with the number 13. Golden son, he worked near his father and after spending two years in Paris to study the art of goldsmiths.
All by chance he was found to be playing as a combo in a film and then in a theatrical performance, directed by the great French theatrical man Louis Zouve. Enchanted by the ramp lights, he decided to turn to his life and deal with acting.
He studied near Zouve and in 1937 made his first professional appearance at the Theater with Moliere's "Women's School". The following year he decided to return to Greece and appeared in Athens, in James Bari's work "The Grill Deals" alongside Katerina (Andreas). The roles followed in Dimitris Psatha's "The Malvox" works, Moliere's "The Misanthus", Dostoevsky's "The player", with troupes such as Miranda - Pappas and Mousouri - Aroni.
In 1945 he married actress Julia Georgopoulou and the following year he acquires his only child, journalist and politician Dimitris Constantaras. In 1948 he for the first time a troupe with Miranda Myrat and in 1958 his first personal troupe and presents John Presley's work "The Investigator is coming".
On his long theatrical journey he will work with great actors, such as Marika Kotopouli, Jenny Karesi, Maro Kontou, Nikos Rizo, Dinos Iliopoulos, Aliki Vougiouklakis and Elli Lampetti. His last appearance on the board in the comedy of Costas Pretenteris "Crazy Roman Type Contacts", presented with Maro Kontou and Nikos Rizos in the two years 1977 - 1979.
Lambros Constantaras became very popular, mainly through the big screen. He was a protagonist from his very first film, "The Song of Separation" (1940) directed by Philopinos Finnos, while holding the first roles in about 90 more films. He was established as the film dad of Alice Vougiouklakis ("Holidays in Aegina", "The Wood came out of paradise", "Alice in the Navy", "My Daughter The Socialist", "Lisa and the Other" etc.).
In 1969 he won the Interpretation Award at the Thessaloniki Festival for his performance in Vasilis Georgiadis's film "The Blobatzis". His latest film was "The Lambroukos Wallace" (1981) directed by Kostas Karagiannis. On television, he stood out with the role of female conqueror Zachos Doganou in the serial of Kostas Pretenteris "Those and I", which was aired in the two years 1976-1977.
In 1971, he was married to a second marriage of 25 years younger than Filio Kekatos, with which he marched until the end of his life. The two had met in 1961, after his stormy romance with Anna Kalouta and his separation from his first wife.
Lambros Constantaras was a great actor. His source talent is illustrated through the wide range of roles he performed, both in cinema and in theater. In his first steps he appeared in dramatic roles, even as Zen -Prremies, and then specialized in more comedic, as a friend or father -inappropriate, open -hearted, and even strict sometimes -sometimes female and humorist.
Lambros Constantaras passed away on June 28, 1985 at Voula's "Asclepius". In the last years of his life he faced serious health problems due to successive strokes.
