The Limassol Municipality has announced the start of a large-scale renovation project of Heroes' Square, one of the city's oldest and most significant cultural sites.
The goal of the project is to renovate the area, preserving its historical value, and create a modern, environmentally friendly infrastructure.
Main objectives of the project:
Emphasize the historical and cultural significance of the square. Address climate challenges such as flood prevention. Increase the comfort and safety of residents and tourists through environmentally friendly infrastructure. Develop pedestrian zones and integration of the square with other parts of the city.
The project, worth 5.5 million euros, will be implemented within the framework of the “THALEIA 2021–2027” program with co-financing from the European Union. The work will take 18 months.

Phase A2 (08/04/25 - 10/06/25) Street: Pavlou Melas (from Anexartisias to Vasiliou Makedonos).
Phase B (06.10.25 - 01.15.26)Street: Andrea Drouziotis.
Phase C (01/15/26 - 05/15/26) Location: internal territory of Heroes' Square.
Restrictions during work Closure of specified streets to traffic. Organization of dedicated pedestrian corridors.
The municipality apologizes for the temporary inconvenience and promises timely updates to the schedule.
