A new mediation effort is underway to end the 25th day of a strike by workers in the ready-mixed concrete industry.
Labor Minister Yiannis Panagiotou is delivering a new proposal tonight to the representatives of the unions and the association of concrete contractors.
The aim of the proposal is to resolve the dispute between the two sides regarding overtime compensation.
Earlier, the ready-mixed concrete association canceled a press conference scheduled for this afternoon.
Giannis Panagiotou, in statements he made earlier, called on all sides to show the necessary responsibility.
The labor minister also said that, for the time being, the employment of workers was not affected.
He noted, however, that the 40 thousand workers in the construction industry should not be affected, due to the difference between 400 workers and 30 employers in the concrete sector.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Associations of Building Contractors estimates that the damage directly connected to the concrete works, due to the strike, amounts to 80 to 100 million euros.
