During the first quarter of 2026, projects will begin to be implemented in all rural and municipal central areas of the Limassol region to improve road safety and accessibility of related infrastructure for cyclists, pedestrians and people with disabilities.
Issue price: 2.2 million euros
The Department of Public Works signed a contract with the contractor in the amount of 2.2 million euros. The project aims to modernize infrastructure and encourage sustainable development by opening new sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, installing ramps, road markings, and warning systems for people with visual impairments.
There will be new parking lots and paths for cyclists.
Work is planned to improve the convenience for cyclists. New bicycle paths will be built on central streets. Bicycle parking will be installed at government buildings. The goal of the project is to make road traffic safer for cyclists.
The project is being implemented with EU support
The project implementation period is 15 months. The initiative is funded by the EU under the NextGenerationEU programme. The program aims to create a better environment for cyclists, pedestrians and people with disabilities in central areas through the EU recovery and resilience plan.
