In September last year, the Tender Review Authority canceled the tender for the purchase of 25 electric vehicles for ministers, deputy ministers and other government officials.
The cancellation occurred after a complaint from one of the tenderers, who indicated that the selected Volkswagen ID.7 model did not meet the requirements of the competition. Instead of a sedan, the car turned out to be a hatchback, which became the reason for reconsidering the decision.
The Ministry of Transport then reviewed the tender and awarded it to another bidder, whose appeal to the Tender Review Authority was upheld.
As a result, government employees will receive the electric model Hyundai Ioniq 6 instead of the Volkswagen ID.7. It is expected that the cars will soon be transferred to the Department of Automotive Services.
Both cars are high-tech, but cater to slightly different target audiences: the Volkswagen ID.7 focuses on a roomy cabin and advanced controls, while the Ioniq 6 stands out for its futuristic styling and competitive price.
